CALLING ALL COUNTRIES

 Okay, so I know I'm not the only one who is kind of confused by what everyone is doing, and to those just passing through here's the deal. Most countries have Country Names and Human Names (ie America's human name is Alfred Jones while his country name is The United States of America). To keep cast consistency and to be considerate ICly of what all countries are going by, since some are sticking to their national guns and going by their country name and others are playing it safer and using their human aliases, it would be useful to know what each country would like to be called in public settings, as well as private ones.

Personally, Lithuania is going by Toris on public posts just to keep things simpler, but doesn't mind other countries calling him by his country title. So using that as sort of an example, what are your thoughts and requests related to public and private names and what your character is going by?

This is mainly just to keep everyone's ducks in a row and not to accidentally out anyone, which has happened in the past. If an IC discussion needs to take place about this, to make it more game realistic as to how everyone knows this, then that's also an option!  hh's first world meeting...

But on topic. Poland is going by Poland. He hasn't told any of the people here his human name and would get pretty peeved if someone called him Feliks.

Iceland goes by his title because he's proud and weird like that.

Not to mention that Icelandic names use a patronymic system for last names and Iceland doesn't have a dad so he's not very uptight about using a human name in the first place? I MEAN LIKE he has an human alias for when he needs it but it's not his preference to use it? Icelanders are kinda weird about genealogy too so idk I think Iceland would just stick to Iceland since that's sorta like his family-given name anyway hahaha thanks big bro. /crying cat

Liechtenstein goes by her true name. So unless other people have difficulties/asking for a shorter nickname, she'll go by Lili mostly. Or Liech.

Yes, many people goes @_@ on her pronunciation.

Oh wait... Nation name is in private, publicly she'll just go by Lili.

Since England just got here, he's going by Arthur Kirkland. He's a cautious bloke. (Although obviously other nations calling him by country name is to be expected.)

Also, are nations listed in the phones' contact list by their country names? If so, then that would kind of defeat the purpose of keeping up human aliases.

no but for real he goes by berwald to save confusion and avoid answering questions/looks/conflict in general. also they were made human, so he would assume that he would have to go by berwald or there may be consequences from the landlord for not conforming or something. he doesn't mind being called sve still and prefers using country names in private when he can and he slips up with the nordics a lot. woop.

Finland uses his human name (Timo Väinämöinen) in public since he prefers not to draw attention to himself. You could also say he's accepted that he's no longer a nation. He's still fine with being called Finland/Fin in private, too!

Hungary usually calls herself by her 'Republic of Hungary' status but when some people seem to look at her odd, she says it's okay to call her Elizabeta.

I think if she's given the okay to call them by their human names [like, deep friendship or intimacy] she will but to show respect she calls them their Nation name. Unless you're Poland then he gets called Popo. ;A;

It doesn't matter if he isn't a nation in Holly Heights. Spain knows who he is and this place won't beat him. Foreign invasion, imperial rise and fall, Napoleon, civil war, one world cup, and multiple football awards later. . . EVERYONE IS GOING TO KNOW HE'S SPAIN. EVERYONE.

But now that he's settled into HH some, he's realized. . . Nations aren't really A Thing and that can potentially be very confusing for others. So he's basically going to introduce himself like, "I'm Spain! But Antonio works too." Giving options always eliminates confusion because people will just go with the less confusion one of the two, right?

Spain's chill. He doesn't really care which name you use. C:

Note #1: Only Romano can call him insulting names and get away with it.

Note #2: In the event there's ever a de-aging event or some other time this becomes relevant, Imperial Spain demands to be called Spain because all y'all Nations are going to recognize the Spanish Empire. Whoops.

Note #3: Toño and Toni are acceptable nicknames. "Anthony" is insulting.

Norway goes by Norway. He tried to come up with a human name at first for the sake of not confusing the fuck out of his family but gave up pretty damn fast. So now it's more like "it's Norway, got a problem with that?"

And world meeting would be fabulous! ♥

Ahh, actually Sherlock-mun asked if Japan's name is the country or his alias on the mailbox/marriage license and I believe Japan was told ICly that it was his name in the contacts, so I went with the country...

Japan would be alright with either, but with the high number of Japanese characters, I think he'd feel it's his responsibility to be official despite Being Human.

Denmark is Denmark. Or you can call him Den, of course, he'll offer that without any hesitation.

...Denny works too if you character's language implies that, or any other variation of Den(mark). He likes nicknames.
