HEY GUYS.

so i, uh, heard you all like families?

ok good this old guy will fit in!! this is Ethan Mars from the ps3 game Heavy Rain. he looks kinda scruffy and old, but he's a really sweet dad that'd do anything for his kid. (spoiler: he's already done a hell of a lot for the kid!) he may or mat not be a little depressed, he's got a phobia of crowds, and maybe even some D.I.D. problems, but he's a nice guy! :( he just could really use a vacation. preferably with his kids.

he's currently staying at 1431 in holly heights! i've already set up a mailbox in his journal along with a hmd if anyone's got advice/crit. also, in case anyone's familiar with the game and wants to know what route he went in canon, i've got a choices post up to!

anyway, i'm completely new and super excited to be here. i'm kris! and if anyone ever wants to catch me, you can reach me on aim at luck lies or send me a pm. c: never let it be said i don't come prepared.

How could you not love Ethan? He is the quintessential good-guy-in-a-shitty-situation. I can never force myself to sacrifice him, though, even if I do inevitably fail at the driving section and lose that bit of the address.

And I have! Went in spoiler-free and I slammed through the main storyline in about two days before realizing that I missed literally 90% of the game by skipping sidequests so now I'm working my way through those, haha. Always good to see another Silent Hill fan!

Stiles is very much both of those things. And I always recommend the series despite its many and varied flaws. It's fun, light and corny as hell and honestly impressive considering, you know, MTV.

he really is! but he is really old and scruffy looking. i think i might have to work to get a chance with the people that don't know him. oh well!

AWWW YES. that's exactly what i did. uh, up to and including the missing sidequests on the first run. i loved the hell out of murphy. i think it was his story that led me back to heavy rain, actually. anyway, i love horror games of any sort.

you know, pretty much every fandom i've been in lately has been depressing. maybe i should pick up teen wolf now. :|a

It did feel a lot like Heavy Rain! I also got a big Alan Wake vibe, especially in the Devil's Pit bit. I didn't go into it with much expectation (I had major issues with Homecoming and Origins and it probably colored my initial feelings a bit) but found Murphy's sensibility refreshing. Finally, a protagonist that actually wants to get out!!! I had a really big laugh when his only goal in the journal thing was "get out of Silent Hill" or whatever. lol Murphy you don't even realize how fucked you are it's adorable.

If it's any enticement, the first season is streaming on Netflix and I think some of the episodes are on the MTV website, too! And if you like it, the second season starts up June 3rd, so the hideous season finale cliffhaner will only trouble you briefly.

how is ethan going to shower now that there isn't a player to press buttons to dry him. AND WHAT IS THAT ICON. stiles' actor is one of those guys that makes fun faces, isn't he?

Same, same! The environment and just general look gave off that Alan Wake feel. Also, I loved the hell out of Murphy's panicked voice. No, no, I loved his voice actor. they really did a great job conveying how scared or how panicked or how relieved Murphy was. it was just great. also, oh my god, that hansel and gretel scene will always be my favorite thing ever.

Hahahahaha I was doing the controller shake during that part and my roommate walked in and was like "why are you playing virtual porn in the living room????" True story. And Dylan O'Brian has a perfect face, yes~

I loved the giant glowy whatever chase scenes because Murphy was screaming along with me. His character felt really human and I think it made the whole experience a lot more real. And unf, that whole level was just... amazing. As far as puzzles go, I was seriously impressed, and then terrified, and then freaking the hell out during the cabin fight. That and the boat scene with Anne stick out with me.

Let me know how you find it, even if you hate me forever for recommending such terrible television!

yes, just yes, that was exactly what i loved about murphy. usually you're just running around in a video game, doing stuff with no reaction from the character -- i loved that murphy was so vocal and real. it was just perfect. pretty much all the scenes at st. marias stick out in my mind. the scene with the bogeyman and boy, the one where he's getting the boat key. also, i love the surprise ending. ;w;

dude, don't worry! i can get into anything; i even liked homecoming. teen wolf will be fun!

I couldn't watch the bogeyman I just wanted to cry and hold all the characters to my bosom. :c Why does it always have to be the childreeeeeeeen? Also I got the ending where Anne shoots you too much (I thought I was like invincible or something and kept messing around WHOOPS) and was majorly confused but ALL THE ENDINGS are so good. Even the ones where Murphey is a dick. My Murphey wasn't, of course.

But haksdjas that birthday cake cutting will go down in my top 100 best moments ngl.

i love how the choices you make actually change his story in the end, opposed to the crazy endings in homecoming. :|a downpour was just such a good game. between that and mass effect 3 and witcher, i have just been in gaming heaven, i swear.

THE TIMING YOU HAVE. i seriously just finished watching the first episode and it is actually cute! but oh man, stiles is walking breathing adorable.

A few of my friends were complaining that they didn't like how your in game choices effected Murphey's history, which blew my mind. It made me feel like I had some sort of sway over the character other than directing him vaguely in the direction of puzzle solutions. Also, I am ashamed to admit I haven't ever played a Mass Effect game, but I desperately want to. :c I'm just not good at games where I have to aim.

HE IS THE MOST BEST and he gets cuter as the series goes on, I don't understand how. idek the supporting cast on this tv show has stolen my heart even if I usually want to bash Scott's head into walls.
