poolside | (no subject)

Hello, good citizens! I'm Dutch, new to the game, and I bring you Kida Masaomi, also known as "that annoying teenager who won't stop making horribly bad jokes and hitting on your womenz~!" Please to be locking up your daughters, now.

Speaking of: Masaomi will be staying in 1417 with ~~hot~~ mom Amane Suzuha, ~~cute~~ sis Nishiyama Hiyori, and ~~mortal enemy~~ beloved daddy Izaya. Could there be a more perfect family? I don't think so. Thankfully, if canon is anything to go by, Masaomi will be avoiding 'home' like the plague, so WWIII may just be prevented.

Actually, where I take Masaomi from, he is (or was, before he was rudely taken to HH) rather happily back together with his girlfriend Saki, so the hitting-on-women may not be too horrible at first. It's going to be a bit of a shock for him anyway, going back to a peaceful, normal life... He's been trying to have that for so long, and when he finally pretty much gave up trying and 'grew up', five/six-ish weeks later he gets dragged to this place! That's irony for you. It's going to be an adjustment.

ANYWAY! Before I keep tl;dr-ing: the plan for this kid is to 1. meet his family, and 2. find out that his BFF Mikado is here and track that dude down. Considering Masaomi has Important History with both Mikado and Izaya, I feel like I need to do those two things to get Masaomi settled in the game before jumping into too many other things. This doesn't mean I'm ignoring all you amazing people! I'm definitely very eager to play with you all! SO EXCITE!

... Masaomi will clue her in. Like whoa. And this is actually the one reason I could imagine him actually spending time in the house: making sure Izaya doesn't corrupt her or whatever. XD I dunno, I see the potential of awesome protective big brother vibes in their future. Masaomi's never had siblings! ~~Or, if he does, they were never mentioned.~~

It's on the obscure side so I don't blame you at all! I only found Hiyokoi by poking around some random manga reader. I've only seen up to episode 24 of Durarara. I keep forgetting to watch the last one. OTL I should probably just start over whoops. Are you taking Kida from the novels or the anime?

That'll explain why she never got 100% comfortable with him, or why Shizuo /really/ didn't like Izaya a bit more! And big brother Kida sounds adorable. ;.;

Eh, the 25th ep is just an 'extra' anyway, it feels like. It's fun watching, if only for seeing Kasuka in full-on acting action, but it doesn't have very much in the way of story progression.
It also has almost no Masaomi. :p

I'm taking him from the novels, but since he's barely in those (I swear, poor kiddo - for being so awesome, he sure gets ignored lots), there's probably not much you've missed if you don't know the novels at all. I think he's at about... five/six weeks after the anime ended, maybe? So yeah, he left with Saki and is being all lovey-dovey with her.

Oh, and he's working for Izaya. :| I don't know if there's any motivation for that given at the end of the third novel (unfortunately my Japanese sucks squid balls)... All they mention later is that, while Masaomi knows that Izaya is the one who helped him to his doom, Masaomi himself is still the one who made his own decisions. So, in absence of better motivation from canon... I'm going to say the decision to work for Izaya was part trying to prove to himself that he can work for Izaya and not mess up - and part using Izaya to stay in touch with his friends through the chatroom.

Money may have also played a part, since it can't be easy for a sixteen year old to provide for himself and his girlfriend... and I can see Izaya being just sneaky enough to play on that at just the right time. Like... calling Masaomi and saying he still owes him for telling him about Mikado, but since Masaomi is in [that one place] where Izaya needs something, if he'll just do that job for him, they'll be even... and Masaomi does, and Izaya pays him anyway, and handsomely - and then suggests inviting Masaomi to the chatroom if he keeps working for him. Something like that.

This is all just my theory, though. I haven't discussed this with 'our' Izaya or anything! Anyway, it's more background than relevant for current events.

... and again with the tl;dr. I'm not obsessed. Nope.
