Here we are! I've been meaning to make this post for some time now, but I've finally got plenty of time on my hands to get down with it. As you know, I play Hijikata Toushirou, who has been seen starring in such things such as The Mayonnaise Commercial ft. Jerry and the crowd favourite Ticking-Time-Bombs Pooping Babies ft. Katsura. In more recent things, he’s the dumb co-owner(?) of Mayocorp, a company by all means dubious. Anyway, the point of this post is not about Mayocorp or Hijikata’s obvious issues... but rather about a topic I’ve been meaning to get settled within the community.

PLAYER-BASED POLICE FORCE.

It’s been mentioned a few times (to me) already, and I’m pretty sure it’s been mentioned even more amongst the lot of you. I’m also aware that there is a number of characters - old and new - who are very much into this justice business, be it because of their canons or the profession of the character in canon or personality, etc... and at this point I don’t think there has been anything officially set up for this branch of..activity.... There are a couple of businesses/buildings that sort of have surveillance as their motif but the once-owners have dropped the game before anything came out of them AS FAR AS I KNOW.

A while back (LIKE..IN OCTOBER...I’VE BEEN BUSY OK.....) I checked with Kiss about having a police force by non-npcs, and paraphrasing: the landlord gets to have the final word on things, but we can handle stuff such as petty crimes (eg. stealing, breaking & entering), possibly create a patrolling unit, and cater for people wanting to file complaints etc. In this case, I think we would be able to work as a unit alongside the Holly Heights Court of Justice. We deal with the dirty work kinda thing, the court does the judging. DUN DUN.

By no means do I want to be the FIGURE OF AUTHORITY for this, and I would definitely like if this were to be inclusive for all players interested in having their characters join the task force and/or the court of justice. I say this because my character, while B+ leader skills, is more of the type to follow someone who is better and more inspiring as a leader. --but I guess we could... discuss this further in the future when we have a consistent team? YEAHHHhhh.

In terms of gameplay, Hijikata would be down with setting this up to a starting point. I believe our Tiger & Bunny friends are in for this too. An IC recruitment post would be set up later this week or early next week, depending.

LMAO SO WHILE INITIALLY THE IDEA WAS TO HAVE THIS BRANCHING OFF FROM MAYOCORP, I’M SURE no one wants to work under that dumb company name sajlskdjlf so it would be a separate establishment, perhaps under the same branch as the court of justice??? ERM.

Also! I do want to add that having a police force is by no means meant to cripple all these fun anarchistic plottings that comes with some of you guys’ characters, but hopefully it will help add some … tension in having to go around the whole system. If that makes sense! Also making an OOC post about it to ~plot~ ‘cause I know my plurk is on a private timeline and would hate to leave anyone interested out of the planning.

man i've always wanted to be on a police force ina game but my characters are never right for the job

but either way, worick and nic are really amiable with their canon's cops and are even often brought in to help solve major crimes. they're more like freelancer and/or mercernaries but they'll definitely probably weave their way around the force and keep their nose in it, if that's alright? caitie will maybe/probably throw her two cents in

as for location, i'd say just make a new business!

oh my god yes please! whilst i'm not super familiar with the fandoms of all characters that want in, i know lightning for sure and we could really do with someone being fierce and taking the reigns to some extent!

b. I think it will be good to use one of the existing building for this. The Preventer HQ looks good to be one since it's stocked with an armory and has functional surveillance system.
c. If this gets set up, Veda Tech will be willing to offer tech support. I'm also willing to have the top dogs in the police force to know that Tieria has information about stuffs and he's working alongside Eiki (your boss lady?) in secrecy.

i've been involved in the workings of the preventer HQ in a different game, so what i'm worried about using it in particular is that it has a lot of advanced gadgets and thus how likely would it be for the (rather rudimentary) characters involved to learn how to make use of it, and such? when i gather the most they'd rather do is do the surveillance and information gathering themselves.

which! is nice if they could get surveillance cameras, radios, etc from veda tech as tools to help them out kinda thing. haven't discussed with eiki's mun atm but i reckon this group and the court of justice would work together as sister companies, rather than being bo...ssed by one in particular. if that makes sense? but tieria can definitely throw himself in in his secrecy ways however he wants!

a. well eiki is judge so there is that, but she won't be actively doing any investigations or w/e. NAOMI on the other hand, used to be an FBI agent and was a capable forensics investigator as well as doctor/surgeon. So she'll want in on it.

some characters have brought up good points about the whole government to respond to situation, but for now i'm just sort of having hijikata handwaving it to them responding to the courthouse, so i think having it as a new building next to the courthouse would be an a+ idea.
