Specifically Dr. Leonard McCoy from the starship Enterprise! Brought in the TOS version, from season 3 (specifically from the end of the episode "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky"). Bones is one of the spouses of 1496.

That makes sense. But yeah! Found the manga in Barnes and Noble one day and got hooked :) I actually think the first one I read was Elliott's storyline (I have a soft spot for rabbits and totally-not-rabbit creatures)
