EVENT → STRANDED
➜ So last event was a doozy, huh? the following are the answers for the event, plus explanations:The Red Key was in St. Fiacre's Cathedral. This was evident partly because of the poem, but also because the first letter of each line spelled out HOLY.
The Blue Key was in Altaciere High School, in the shop room. This was trickier, but the words were pretty shop related.
The Yellow Key was in Seventh Heaven Bar. The seventh word in the list is Heaven, therefore: Seventh Heaven.
The Green Key was in Paru Prose (The Library). This involved process of elimination, but it was supposed to lead you to something book related.
➜ There's always been a big rule in Holly Heights that you may only app one character per canon. In March this was discussed to include universes, sister series, and the like. In light of some recent things, it's been brought to my attention that in some areas this isn't entirely fair to appers. The rule is made less lenient now, only including universes, but with limits. You still cannot app characters from the same universe, but sister series or series under the same umbrella that don't share a universe or large connection are not put under this rule anymore. If you do decide to play two characters in a sister series scenario such as Final Fantasy or Tales, you will be allowed a cap at two characters. So you can play one character from one FF game, another from another FF universe, but that will be the limit. Another rule was added, though it has been there for a while but not listed. This is the rule of no two of the same character can be played regardless of different universes. This rule wasn't there in the past, but without it multiple problems arose. Anytime the rules will be edited or changed, you'll all be notified within the next event or mod post update. (I hope this answers the question of the person who left me a question about this). Also, this goes into effect starting next app cycle!
➜ Because people are still adjusting to this new AC, there's been a little leniency in apping characters back after failing. To give everyone enough time and leeway, this will be impossible soon. Starting with the first AC of 2014, you must wait a cycle before reapplying for a character you've let idle or failed AC with. Also, make sure to check the next AC post for more info on what good AC is and how to post it. There will be 100% no more AC leniency in this area starting this month.
➜ Also, there may or may not be a double event sort of deal in October. There will definitely be another Halloween Ball. There is a possibility of a murder mystery type event as well. If this is finalized, then there will be a sign up and info related post during reserves/AC.
➜ To send off the beautiful island scenery (yes, you heard it here, the island setting will be gone once Autumn hits!), we'll be using it as the forefront of the event this month. Much like the ship mini event, this will be on a much larger scale and involving (drumroll.mp3) islands!
➜ The setup is this: there will be 12 unique islands created for the residents who wish to be involved in the event. The space where the islands are will be separate from the island of Holly Heights. This means that if one wanted to escape the island and try to go home, they wouldn't be able to find Holly Heights, and vice versa. However, a person on island one would be able to see and visit islands two through twelve. The islands are in a circle, and standing on the shore, looking directly at another island, it'd be about the size of the tip of your finger if you extended your hand all the way out, sticking up your index finger.
➜ Sign ups are strictly OOC. Comment to the thread that has the number island you want and on midnight of the 18th, they will be transported to that island. There will be a character cap of 30 people per island. 30 x 12 is 360, so that's enough for everyone in Holly Heights and then some. Please try to limit yourself to putting your characters on different islands.
➜ Each island is uninhabited. For each island there will be a set task list for the islanders to achieve. Tasks may differ from island to island and the geography will vary. One island may be very wooded while the other will be sparse and more. They will be the sizes of five large city blocks, or roughly five acres. Each island will have an animal, bug, and fruit associated with it, as well as a small shack next to the signboard with various supplies for you: buckets, shovels, axes, medical kits, a battery powered chainsaw, and other miscellaneous tools. With this information, an example of a task list might be "Chop down 20 trees and use the wood to make large hut. Hunt five wild boars and eat them tonight." Tasks may vary from physical to social; elect a leader or use as many people as possible to carry wood to build a wind shelter. There's no true reward for all of these tasks, but more generalized rewards. What is that about rewards, you say....?
➜ There is a certain contest aspect to it all, in two different ways. One will be a randomized prize, the winner list decided by a list randomizer. These prizes will be tangible, such as a luxury blender or a jacuzzi. Luxury items and perhaps things more special! Don't worry, because whatever place you get, you'll get something! The other part will be an OOC vote for whose island they think is the favourite. This could be because of creativity, functionality...be as serious of silly as you wish. If one island decides to screw the task list and do nothing but breed wolverines and you like that, then that's cool! The prizes associated with these, though, are monetary in increments of $100. 12th place gets $100, 1st place gets $1200. This is per islander meaning if your island got both the randomized 1st and vote 1st, each islander would get the luxury prize associated with it and $1200.
➜ How will people know how to vote for your island? Well, you may have noticed that the event goes from the 18th to the 28th, but Autumn comes on the 26th. This is because characters will be brought back on that midnight, the island setting gone. During those two days, there will be a post put up. There will be two days for someone from each team to put up a small write up on this post with what your island team accomplished. On the 28th, the voting post will go up. Make it sound as great as possible, because people will be voting for islands based off of these. You may not vote for your own island. This is not an IC voting, so there shouldn't be a problem with this. One vote per player. Please try to be as unbiased as possible with your votes
➜ Characters will be aware of a large sign on each island, telling them that complying with the instructions, found via message in a bottle on the second day, that they will be rewarded. There will be a large island log, one comment per island. On the first day, it's encouraged that greetings and wonderings will be had. Sometime (early) on the 19th, I'll go around and comment to these comments with the lists associated with the island's tasks. Please don't reply to these bottle comments. The rest of the log is fair game, comment everywhere!
➜ If this doesn't sound like your cup of tea, it's perfectly fine to just stay in Holly Heights, minding your own business! It'd be obvious that people are missing, sure! But feel free to go about your daily lives, even raiding the rooms of those housemates not there, huhuhu...
➜ If there's any questions, as per usual, go here! Below those, are island signups. No need to fill out a form, just leave a blank comment, a text comment, any kind of comment to the island thread of your choice! You may sign up at any time except after the 26th. Bless you for reading this text wall.
