Given the fun I've had with other muses in the 4th wall event, I may be picking someone up from next round. If anyone wants to help me decide, it's a toss-up between doormat_hikari, alteanprince, and howisaraven (kudos to anyone who actually knows the last one). I had about 3 other kids running around, but these are my faves.

I love the art and the story, but I would have to agree. There were points, particularly in the third trade, where I had to reread it a few times to understand what was going on. Otherwise, I really loved the concept and idea of how the trinity could change an entire universe in this way, both for better and for worse. And all the parallels and more minor characters.

ah ha! oddly enough, that's about the time i kind of quit on it. i think that is one of the big issues with comics (dc in particular) is that they make things long and ongoing these days instead of short bursts. i think it could have been a much more powerful, interesting title if it were a mini or limited and then revisited every now and then -- especially if done with multiple artists and writers.

dc has such an aversion to minor characters the past five or so years. worse, they always have to shove them in with major characters or try to force them into their own series instead of having small bits. marvel had it right for a long time with doc strange, i think. keep him in his own adventures and small appearances that matter and he doesn't necessarily play LOOK AT ME! with [insert a trinity-esque character].

I'm not sure how they could've shortened Trinity too much, though they could've cut out quite a bit in volume 2 where the rescue party hears about the legends and tales of the Trinity of Gods. I'll admit, those were a bit long and drawn out. Though they had to have it 52 issues. Because everything is 52. Volume 1, the start of 2, and most of 3 was pretty good, though 3 did get a bit convoluted.

I have a lot of problems with DC, particularly in New 52, but "1 year later" pre-new52 had some really good runs. I really liked the Power Girl series from that era, Zatanna, JSA, and Birds of Prey.

But I'm starting to lean towards Marvel now. Runaways. Dakken. Spiderman. DC just doesn't grab me as much as it used to. (Not to mention a particular infatuation with a series called The Boys).

yeah, i think it would have worked well with the sort of... elseworlds kind of premise? although i find i always want more of that sort of thing. it just would be nice if they did some in betweens where it's not either unending or four issues. so many ongoings could be shortened.

52 is the magic number in the dcu. though i actually quite liked the 52 event. i have mixed feelings on power girl because while they gave her a distinct voice, it was still vastly different from the one she had before; we don't talk about the way paul dini writes zatanna (matt sturges is fine by me, tho), jsa i... idk. i think it was pretty strong until they broke the group up and even then, they could have salvaged it! my big pet peeve is the way cyclone was being written toward the end and how they made the new fate do a 180; originally he basically was how he was while possessed. i really hate that they had all his development off screen and made him boring as shit. birds of prey started off strong for me, too. but i think a lot of it toward the end was the writers and artists and everyone involved knowing it was coming to an end and nothing mattered. i can't imagine being invested in something knowing that would happen.

i've never really read much marvel beyond like, dracula and dr strange. my friend is super into it and keeps trying to force it onto me, but i'm so out of love with comics these days that aren't like, reed gunther or kids comics :')

I think the symbolism and the shifting of power and flipping alignments got me. And I honestly didn't expect what would happen next. I like it when stories surprise me.

I haven't read the ending of JSA or Birds of Prey yet. I will generally read anything Gail Simone writes. There were too many series that ended abruptly for me at the advent of New 52. I was thoroughly upset to find Zatanna was cut short and left on a cliffhanger I will never know the answer to (though I did go back a few years and peruse the Seven Soldiers of Victory. Damn that's also a good macroseries).

Understandably so. I thought I'd fall out of comics with New52, but I ended up getting hooked on a few marvel series. And I am ridiculously in love with their live action movies (the ones by Marvel Studios only).
