IMPORTANT PERSONAL MOD POST!!!!
And as such will be on a personal account and not a mod account b/c I'm trying to Connect with y'all. Or something.
So this is Kiss, aka Mod-chan, here with what could be good news and also what could be very bad news. Which I will try to cover as plainly but also as transparently as possible. If this gets tl;dr then so be it, but I'll make a little summary at the bottom for all of those who just don't gaf and want the shortened version. This is also a little personal, so if that make you uncomfortable then please scroll down to after the cut.
So while usually the holiday season from Thanksgiving time through the new year is super hectic for a lot of people, it was especially so for me for the following reasons (skip this if you have me on plurk or not if you want a recap).
- The day after Thanksgiving, my mom had to go to the hospital for a collapsed lung and stayed there for...I can't remember how many days. Like four or five. But it was a very stressful time and it meant I had to do a bunch of stuff for her animals that I don't usually + dealing with things related to it in general + taking care of her a few days after she got out.
- I also got a new job in the middle of November. If you know me then you will definitely understand why this job is SUPER IMPORTANT TO ME even though I bitch about it sometimes, oops...but it also takes up a bit more time than I expected which may just be because I'm new and suck at time management.
- We also have to move houses. This has been an ongoing process since the day after Halloween which involves boxing up everything we own, finding a house, cleaning up said house, cleaning up this house, buying shit for both houses...if you've moved you understand what this means, lmao, it super. Sucks.
- And then there's the general and vague comment about how my life is pretty stressful for multiple reasons in general.
So yeah, my time has been very much taken up. I do have some free time which I do devote to doing important HH things like mod stuff (even if you can't tell, I'm always doing Something) but I've been on hiatus from RPing mostly because RPing has always been kind of associated with doing a job. I don't see it as a chore but it's definitely not my go-to thing to do when i want to relax so thus a month long hiatus so my free time CAN be just destressing and having fun without much thought. So just in case you wondered where dumbgay idiots have been, that's where.
This is not the main reason I'm posting, though, and is mostly a prologue to what I'm saying next.
The house that we're currently moving to HAS AT&T boxes on three sides of the house WITH working DSL connectors in them (it's illegal to look into the left side of phone boxes or something but we sure did) BUT AT&T refuses to give us internet. Our house doesn't show up in their system at all and they are being very hesitant about sending a technician out to see if they can fix the problem. I don't fucking know why. Never get AT&T. We've contacted Verizon and Time Warner Cable and neither will service this house for Whatever Fucking Reason They Want (TM).
Basically what I'm saying is that I may not have Internet come 2015 and I don't know if and when that will be fixed.
There are a few scenarios here that can happen:
These all have different levels of severity and I have no idea how it's all going to work out. Come tomorrow, the tech may call and say "Well gee whiz, sure we can give you Internet!" but that is not exactly likely based on the temperature of what they're saying to us and have said via three different people. But even then, this may just be a big misunderstanding and everything will be fine! I really do not know.
The reason that I bring this up is because in the chance of a worst case scenario situation, this would then leave HH in the lurch which I do not want to do.
Regardless of the internet situation, I have already asked Kitty (who plays Italy and Kisumi) to be my trusted stand in during the moving process which I'm going to discuss this with her in terms of what all she needs to do and everything in the event I'm not here to do it because I'm too busy mopping a ceiling or moving boxes. This was already something I thought of before this fiasco, so don't worry. You're good at least through the next app round.
But in the chances of me not having Internet EVER again, although we're working to get at least a hot spot so I can do my job, then of course HH would need new management.
This is also something that I want to express my thoughts on considering two scenarios:
Do not be alarmed, though, because as I said. This may not be a problem AT ALL. I want to talk to Kitty about helping at least through January if she wants so I can make sure that the scenario, whatever it may be, is confirmed. If I get information that is solid one way or the other, then you'll be the first to know. If I do know that I can't get internet come 2015, I will claw my way to Starbucks and do work from there to move along the process of finding a new head mod and etc.
I am going to reitterate: there is still a possibility that this will be unnecessary and everything will return to scheduled programming. If this news of new management makes you feel one way or another about the game please do not react now because it may just be me thinking of the worst case scenario, but I do feel like I owe it to you to plan ahead and keep you abreast of the situation!
On a more personal note, if push DOES come to shove and I can't do this anymore (even though I won't be saying goodbye until February really), I want to say thank you to everyone. Literally everyone. Old people, new people, people who've been here for six months or two and a half years. You're all magical to me. Which don't take that as disingenuous because, well, I don't KNOW all of you. But it's always been really magical to me to see a game I thought would only have 20 or 30 characters in and die within a month or to grow to see hundreds of characters and players pass through it, even if that's not the state of affairs today. I'll be more sappy when everything is finalized and if that really is the scenario, but I felt like waxing a bit sentimental in light of this emotional news.
TL;DR I may not be able to take care of Holly Heights and things may change, but I'll try to make sure that the transition is a fair and smooth one for everyone involved. Please note that this is only a very extreme possibility, but also one that is still a route that I may have to take. In the event that it isn't, there will still be a new list mod come 2015 sometime (Jan. - Feb.), so look out for news either way.
