MINI EVENT → MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL

THREE DAYS OF SKIPPING WORK FOR EVERYONE
Midsummer is a holiday celebrated primarily in Europe that is associated with both Pagan and Christian religions. Either way, it's a pretty big celebration in a lot of countries, though because this is supposedly ~*~Ąmerica~*~, things are going to have to be Americanized just a tad bit.

While some countries celebrate a a two day festival, others only celebrate one set day and it varies in reason depending on religion, country, and region. To keep things simple, Midsummer will last a weekend fomr Friday the 22nd to Sunday the 24th.

While regains will not be handed out for this event in any form or fashion, if enough people complete the tasks on each day the landlord will give everyone something pretty cool come next month. How many is "enough"? That's a secret!

So what is there to be done? Here's what will go down on each day:

FRIDAY, THE 22ND OF JUNE
  • Maypole: ( 3PM ) A 30 foot tall maypole is located in the middle of the town square, though not decorated with any flowers. Some boxes of various vines and floral cuts sit in boxes. Your job? To help decorate it by twining and making it look as lovely as possible. A little placard stands next to the open crates, clarifying as such. Some more familiar with maypoles and their use may act like the dorks they undoubtedly are and dance around it with it's tapered streamers, but there's also the nearby pagoda pavilion to partake of, which contains picnic foods of all shapes and sizes covering it's numerous tables, a sort of reward for helping out. Don't worry! It's not poisonous or anything. There's also a ladder to help you get to the tippy top.

    SATURDAY, THE 23RD OF JUNE
  • Park Party: ( 7PM ) Much like the pavilion set up on the 22nd, the park is instead today covered in long tables, some filled with food, others empty. A notice given will explain to the characters that to complete this part of their tasks, they must fill up the empty tables with food. So bring a dish, or maybe four! Whatever floats your boat. Feel free to eat as much as you'd like to. There's drinks as well, some more kid friendly than others, if you catch my drift. Everyone is invited! The food won't appear until 7PM, though, so arriving early isn't going to win you any points.

    SUNDAY, THE 24TH OF JUNE
  • Bonfire: ( 9PM ) Today, everything from the maypole to the picnic tables will be cleared out and replaced with a large pile of sticks. By large, I mean massive. At 9PM on the dot, the mass will ignite. All you have to do? Attend. Perhaps it's calming to watch the mass burn, perhaps you just want to see the additional fireworks offered (where are those things even coming from?), but sit your butt down and enjoy the show. Originally, the bonfires were made to cast out evil and were believed to be portals through which witches could meet powerful mystical beings. Romantic, no?

To get the special somethings, the Maypole, Park Party, and Bonfire must be attended. Note that you don't have to complete each task assigned in order for it to qualify. Do one, two or all three! It's supposed to be a group effort.

This event is majorly CR based and encourages the interaction between all characters. The event is completely optional and only for funsies! Feel free to participate or not! It's not meant to be too heavy considering we just had a four day event. A log will go up with a thread for each day, to keep everything concise. The log will go up at midnight on the 22nd with the Maypole thread. Each other thread, one for the 23rd and 24th, will go up at midnight CST of the next day. It's possible to tag in late, but come July 1st, it's safe to say the decision will be made on whether or not the prize is deserved. Long story short: tag what you want, when you want, and you should be good!

    FINAL THOUGHTS
A post will go up shortly to the network community regarding ICly informing everyone of the festival. Be on the look out! As suggested by a few players, Holly Heights is getting a new monthly IC post revealing certain information, as well as a new NPC!
