Hey, dudes & dudettes! I'm Lucy and I bring with me Quistis Trepe from some obscure game you've probably never heard of called Final Fantasy VIII! She's set up as a spouse in house #1468! Her canon point is Disc Two, before going to Trabia Garden.

I don't like to do intro posts, so I will probably bum around until that newbie log. My motto is "if it's dumb, I want to RP it," so please come to me if you have really stupid ideas and need someone to jam with!!

Hello! I'm Phee, and I used to RP Laguna (plus his buddies) and Quistis ages ago in forum RPs. Now I play this adorable gamer girl and a not-really-but-sort-of ex magical girl warrior (thirdbeauty) here! The latter of which lives in 1461 so yay, new neighbors!

There's plenty of dumb potential with both, too! Chiaki here is incredibly naive but actually pretty earnest and intelligent, plus knows a lot about games so she'll think Quistis' world sounds totally normal! And Natsuru... is just dumb. She also kind of used to not be a girl, so... that's part of the reason...

I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with either character/canon, but in my experience I'm not familiar with most canons... and tbh, it's good for both enabling new canons on my end and great CR. Somehow going into it canon blind just makes it better.

Also that... uh... well. I hope shenanigans ensue. She will probably be pacing outside her house for a good few hours before she enters and claims the largest room as her own. And then if a spouse comes along she's gonna shrug and tell 'em they get the couch.

Clearly, we do! I totally would have played Edea if I had a chance. I just created journals for Laguna, Kiros and Ward recently too, so... we'll see if those end up going anywhere...

Familiarity is certainly not a requirement, either! With these characters, it's actually a lot of fun playing off of people who are canonblind! I already kind of spoiled the big "surprise" with Natsuru that's still a huge secret ICly, but there's things about Chiaki that are totally unexpected too. If you're not adamantly against spoilers, that is...

Also, no one but me seems to know Natsuru's canon in DW RP, so don't feel bad, lol. But if you posted in the Lap Pillow meme on Bakerstreet, you've seen a picture from the (terribly fanservicey) anime......

Guhhh, good taste o'clock! I've been thinking about making one for Laguna, but I don't feel I could do him proper justice. I worry I'd slip into making him quite literally stupid instead of secretly kind of layered and mature and surprisingly insightful... 8(

I have a RL friend who is really into Dingle Ron Paul so I hear about it a lot! I just try not to get into anything I have to download/watch online (I have an ancient behemoth of a computer and I'm not pushing it towards destruction until I can afford a new one, heh). Ah, well, don't worry! I'd have been spoiled at some point. I've always been really bad about accidentally spoiling myself. The only spoiler I think I'd be angry if someone ruined for me would have been Vader being Luke's father (I envy them Star Wars newbs...).

I have! And I don't think fanservice necessarily equates to bad. Part of what is great about RP and fanfics and the like is you can expand upon things that are purely fanservice to begin with. :3a

Aww, Quistis has always been my favorite from the main FF8 cast! And a bunch of people I know from this game love her too, so we're not alone!

And yeah, I totally agree on the fanservicey-ness... thing. I play from the manga, which is less blatant than the anime, but still. It is fun to take Natsuru out of the harem genre and genderbent-fanservice of her own world and explore her dumb in a place like Holly Heights!

Also I think you've officially seen Natsuru as a guy before anyone else in this game? Since he's pretty much stuck as a girl here...

It's harem? Haha, then it's definitely going to be interesting. A lot of the characters (especially the love interests) of harem animu, I think, have such amazing potential to grow as characters outside of their canon. I really enjoy seeing them in games.

And yeah, Kämpfer's weird! It starts off with the main character waking up as a girl (because the Kämpfer powers require it), then goes into a kind of superpowered action battle thing between his girl form and a bunch of other Kämpfer, then as time goes on the two factions make nice and become Natsuru's possible love interests while they all fight against a third faction together every once in a while.

And Natsuru gets forced into embarrassing situations as a girl the whole time. (She showed up in Holly Heights wearing this outfit. Story of her life.)

IT'S SURPRISINGLY EASY?? You get healed fully after every battle, and even game overs just put you right before the fight, so you don't lose any progress. I enjoyed it a lot!!

My fav is xiii, largely because of my huge crush on Lightning, but it's pretty closely followed by viii and iv. I LIKE THEM ALL THOUGH it's real hard to choose >(

It's pretty crappy. I think it was originally a Mana game or something and was basically used in Japan to teach newbs how to RPG? I can't remember. All I remember is being really disappointed. (Basically, never waste your money on it.)

I'm afraid I'm not a fan! Though I can look at it objectively. My dislike mostly was that [a] I don't like Lucrecia or care about her [b] don't curr about newbies [c] Vincent really doesn't translate well to realistic and I'm petty and shallow and [d] I just didn't really care for what AC did in general in terms of the original game's world build. I guess my feelings on it can almost exclusively be summed up by my dislike of where the world build/style/etc. went from the original? I'd have to replay the original and watch it all to pinpoint my exact issues with all of it for me to really get into it.

BUT YEAH I'm not a big fan of VII overall. I'm all about the older ones and like, early SMT games. I kind of stopped playing them at Persona 3 since I really disliked it and struggled to even finish it. :x

And in all fairness, I can totally see why the DoC hate happens, even though I like it okay. For me, it doesn't feel like the world build changed a whole lot, it just got updated to the post-FF8 (and FF10) style. Crisis Core shows it a lot better, because it's set pre-Meteor, so you don't get any of the major alterations from AC and DoC...

I also had a pretty long conversation with a friend a while back over how I actually like Lucrecia because they made her such a flawed character who made terrible life choices, lmao. Like, if you just look at FF7 itself she's almost too perfect and sympathetic. DoC really deconstructs that, but doesn't make her a bad person, just someone with really horrible judgment... who made a lot of mistakes. And didn't realize it until it was way too late. I still feel bad for her, but she's not wholly innocent, either.

But now I'm rambling, oops. /also played Lucrecia once upon a time...
